博士研究生:Jianwei Ren, Mechanical Performance of Sandwich Protective Structure Containing High-strength Composite Panel.
Conventional metallic sandwich has used to be a candidate structure against intense impact loading, due to the excellent energy absorption of the whole structure. But it has a relative less advantage of ballistic resistance against high-speed projectile or fragment produced by buried mine or explosion. For a better comprehensive performance of the combined loading, an improved sandwich construction was proposed in this study. Using the laminated composite panel containing high-strength composite fabric, like UHMWPE and aramid, this construction was anticipated to have a good comprehensive protection capacity for combined impact loading. As a foundation of investigation for dynamic properties of this structure, this presentation introduced its application background and design strategy of the focused specimens, and the foundational quasi-static bearing-load capacity, quasi-static three-point bending test, also was quantitatively assessed.

Dynamic freezing processes remain a perennial topic of great relevance to nature and science, from the climate to society and from medicine to energy, it profoundly influences environment and technology.The velocity of the movement at the ice-water interface is a key parameter in this process. However, the perpendicular velocity of interface at long time scales has been researched extensively, and the formation along the interface direction at the initial moment is neglected. Consequently, such insights into lateral freezing at the nanoscale interface are highly relevant for many research fields ranging from cryoclimatology and cryogenic environment to nanoscience and interface science.
