The 11th Lab Seminar of 2021 in Winter

2021122日,实验室本学期第十一次全英文组会在A8号楼7楼召开,汇报人和汇报主题分别为:

博士研究生:Xuechao Sun, Temperature dependent effective coefficient of thermal expansion(CTE) and bulk modulus of heterogeneous materials with surface tension. 

Heterogeneous materials consist of more than two components, widely exist in nature materials like bone (with cortex and marrow) and bio-tissues(with cell and ECM) and artificial heterogeneous materials. In such material, one component can be considered as inclusions embedded inside another component as matrix. Because the size of the inclusion is quite small, the surface tension on the interface cannot be neglected. Besides, surface tension is affected by temperature. In this work, considering the effects of temperature and interface deformation, the effective coefficient of thermal expansion and bulk modulus of heterogeneous materials are derived. The results reveal that the interface and temperature have significant effects on thermal-mechanical parameters, and some properties in certain materials are even contrary to the traditional theory.

硕士研究生:Qiangrong Xu, Low-frequency sound insulation performance of a quasi-zero stiffness local resonant acoustic metamaterial plate.

For effective broadband insulation of sound at low frequencies, a novel local resonant acoustic metamaterial plate having quasi-zero stiffness is proposed. Using quasi-zero stiffness local resonance to achieve low-frequency broadband sound insulation overcomes the disadvantages of traditional metamaterials such as reduced stiffness or additional mass, thus vastly attractive for constructing low-frequency broad band sound insulation structures.
